Vijayadashmi


 Hey Folks,

  My today’s post in on the Hindu Festival celebrated worldwide for the Symbolic victory over Evil.

Vijayadashmi has various names such as Dussehra, Dashahara & Dashain (In Nepal).

It’s usually a ten day festival celebrated in Durgostav or Navratri. Most Commonly celebrated in Asian countries like India, Nepal & Bangladesh.

The Name Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit word “Dasha-Hara” which means removal of ten. On this tenth day where Lord Rama’s Victory over the ten-headed Demon King Ravana. Also its embarks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur. Where Vijaydashmi embarks the victory over evil. Vijayadashmi means Victory over Dashmi (Dashmi being the tenth lunar day of the Hindu calendar month).

In India where all over it is celebrated the entire ten day festivals. Where few people fast for the faith on the deity.
For the entire festive period the fast goes on, and they break their fast on the tenth day with sweet and various savouries’
&spicy food.

Also on this day people worship the Apta Tree (Bauhinia racemosa) and exchange its leaves (known as golden leaves) as a symbol of gold wishing each other a bright and prosperous future. Also people buy new clothes and invest in gold jewellery and new appliances, bike and car. Also garland them with Saffron Marigold flowers popularly known as Jhendu or Genda Phool.  There is great enthusiasm, joy & happiness everywhere.
